About the Crisis Coping Quiz
The Crisis Coping Quiz is anchored in research on how the human nervous system reacts to highly stressful events. We’ve all heard of the “Fight or Flight” response, which describes the adaptive survival mode that kicks in when we face danger. Psychologist Daniel Goleman coined the term “amygdala highjack” to describe how, in the face of an emotional crisis, we may have an intense reaction that bypasses our rational brain and impairs coping.
The Crisis Coping Quiz asks general behavioral questions and looks for unconscious, and sometimes harmful habits that are intensified in times of stress. Crisis is hard enough, the test is meant to be pithy and simple. Don't overthink your answers!

Grief is Hard, Growth is Possible

You are either a Detonator or a Burier, each with strengths and drawbacks. Everyone has a dominant type, although we carry both styles in our repertoire.
We grieve when crisis occurs, both professionally and personally. Sometimes our unconscious response to the grief makes the situation even harder. One way we harnessing the energy of crisis is self-awareness. Even the slightest pause, "Am I burying/detonating?" can help us cope more effectively..
